BOB FRISUREN

The bob hairstyle is versatile.

The bob hairstyle is versatile. Whether wavy or layered, with or without fringes, with colour or without, chin-length or down to the shoulders: With the bob, there are no limits to your individuality. The hairstyle is practical, easy to care for, uncomplicated and looks great.

The bob is one of the classic hairstyles, but it is anything but boring: the right cut and the right styling products make it a versatile hairstyle. It emphasises the face, makes you look younger and looks super modern.

The English star hairdresser Vidal Sassoon is often called the inventor of the bob hairstyle. However, this is only partly true, as he merely reinvented the garçon cut that was popular in the 1920s. Sassoon took up the scissors in 1963 and transformed the garçon cut into the bob. He was particularly enthusiastic about the fact that the hair always fell back to the actual cut without the need for much styling.

A famous representative of the bob is Anna Wintour. For the editor-in-chief of US Vogue, the bob has become a trademark. She has worn a chin-length bob with fringes for years.

What types of bob hairstyles are there?

There are countless variations of the bob - so not all bobs are the same: from the short bob to the long bob, everything is possible. The bob is a haircut with many possibilities and variations. A real all-rounder that suits almost everyone.

Short Bob

With a short bob, the hair is cut just below the ears. The hair can be combed into a centre parting or side parting. The short bob is super easy to care for and simple to style. Fringes go especially well with a short bob. This hairstyle is also called a bob.

Shaggy Bob

The term shag comes from the English word shake, meaning to shake. Shaggy means something like shaggy. And this is what the bob looks like: casual and fringy. Compared to a classic bob, the shaggy bob is a wild haircut.

The shaggy bob is an uncomplicated fringe cut with a more pronounced step. The fringe should reach at least to the eyebrows. If you have slightly wavy hair, you can simply tousle it and the styling is done. The hairstyle is already in place! This cut is not ideal for natural curls. Straight or fine hair can also be transformed into a shaggy bob with the perfect shaggy cut and some styling products.

Long Bob

With a long bob, the hair is cut at least shoulder-length. The hair is combed with a centre parting or side parting. The long bob suits every person, is super versatile and easy to care for. The Long Bob can be styled casually but also festively. For all long haired people who want a change, the Long Bob is a good alternative where you don't have to part with too many hair centimetres. And the best thing is that the hair can still be tied back in a ponytail.

Wavy Bob

The Wavy Bob is worn shorter than the Long Bob. The waves create an undone look. Styling the Wavy Bob: If you have a slight natural wave, you can simply work some mousse or salt spray into the hair and knead it. If you don't have natural waves, you can curl your hair strand by strand with a straightening iron or a curling iron. To fix the curls, use a mousse and some hairspray. It is important not to curl the ends of a Wavy Bob completely, but to leave them slightly smoother than the rest of the curl. This creates beach waves, which are particularly typical of the wavy bob.

Bob with fringes

The bob can also be combined wonderfully with a fringe. Whether long bob or short bob - the fringe suits every type of bob. It is important to adapt the cut to the shape of the face. Otherwise the combination of fringes and a bob can quickly look unflattering.

Asymmetric bob

With the asymmetrical bob, the lower cut edge at the nape of the neck may be angled. The more extreme the bob, the more stylish the look. The asymmetric bob was made famous by Victoria Beckham.

Pageboy

Today, the pageboy head is sometimes also known as "Merkel Bob". We don't need to explain where this new term comes from. It is a bob in which the hair is longer than chin length and the hair at the nape of the neck is not shaved out. The pageboy head also suits many people because it can be adapted to the shape of the face.
