Do you want to improve the appearance of your skin and are looking for professional help? Then a microdermabrasion treatment might be just the thing for you. This procedure can help with various skin problems and conditions. We'll show you what the treatment can do and how it works. We had our expert Andreia explain everything to us in our PerfectHair.ch salon!
How does microdermabrasion work?
Crystal microdermabrasion uses a device that sprays tiny crystals onto the skin and simultaneously extracts them. The crystals act like an abrasive and remove dead skin cells and impurities from the top layer of the skin. This visibly improves the skin's appearance.
The microdermabrasion method stimulates cell renewal and promotes collagen production, which can lead to improved skin texture, a more even complexion and a reduction in fine lines, scars, pigmentation spots and congestion. The treatment is therefore a real anti-ageing miracle and is usually painless and also requires no anaesthetic. It can be performed several times at intervals of a few weeks, depending on individual needs.
After a microdermabrasion treatment, the skin is often temporarily red and more sensitive. Therefore, it is important to avoid sun rays and use a sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from damage.
Für wen ist Microdermabrasion geeignet?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for many different skin types. The treatment can help with various skin problems and conditions. These include:
- Uneven skin texture: Microdermabrasion can help make the skin smoother and more even by removing dead skin cells.
- Clogged pores: By removing dead skin cells and impurities, clogged pores can be opened and the appearance of blackheads and acne reduced.
- Pigmentation spots and sun damage: Microdermabrasion can help improve the appearance of pigmentation spots, sun spots and uneven pigmentation.
- Scars: For shallow scars, such as acne scars, microdermabrasion can help minimise the appearance by removing the top layer of skin to reveal new, healthier skin.
- Fine lines and wrinkles: By stimulating collagen production, microdermabrasion can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving skin looking firmer and more youthful.
Be aware, not all skin conditions can be treated with microdermabrasion. For deeper wrinkles, severe acne, rosacea or other skin conditions, be sure to consult a dermatologist to discuss appropriate treatment options.
How often should microdermabrasion be done?
How often you should have a microdermabrasion treatment depends on various factors, such as the individual skin condition, your desired results and the recommendations of the experts. Generally, it is recommended to have several treatments for optimal results.
For most people, a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart is recommended. This allows the skin to recover between treatments and continue the natural renewal process.
After completion, you can do another treatment every 1 to 3 months to maintain the results and continue to support your skin health.
Microdermabrasion in the salon
We took a closer look at the treatment and were there for a microdermabrasion treatment at our salon in Zurich on Turbinenstrasse. Our cosmetician Andreia told us exactly what goes into a good and efficient treatment.
Preparation:
Good preparation and cleansing of the face is important to ensure optimal microdermabrasion. This is the only way for the crystals to reach the top layer of skin.
Microdermabrasion:
Now it's time for the actual microdermabrasion treatment, during which the top layer of skin is removed.
Completion:
The removal of the top layer of skin has stressed and strained the skin. It is important to pamper it again with sufficient care afterwards to soothe it.
