Do's

Confirm in good time. If the number of guests is unclear, the bride and groom cannot plan properly either.

Dress code: Don't wear white - it's the bride's colour. As a man: Don't take off your jacket until the groom does too.

Congratulations are in this order: first the bride and groom, then the bride's parents and then those of the groom.

Adhere to the seating order. The bride and groom will certainly have put a lot of thought into this and meeting new people is not so bad.

Speech rule number 1: Speak for a maximum of 10 minutes and avoid too many inside jokes that the other guests won't understand.

Do-not's at a wedding

Put your mobile phone on silent. Nothing is more distracting than the mobile phone vibration when the bride and groom say "yes" to each other.

The bridal bouquet is thrown and it should be fate if you catch it - not the power of your elbows. This is an absolute no-go!

Even if dancing is not your thing. If you're asked, you shouldn't refuse. At least dance a round with them.

Avoid arguments of any kind. This is the bride and groom's day and even if not all the guests are your friends: Arguments definitely don't belong at a wedding party.

Is it raining? That's a shame, but it's not the end of the world. It's much worse if the couple is constantly asked about it. Therefore: Do nothing of the sort and enjoy the party.

Dress code for wedding guests

The invitation card already contains a lot of information. Besides the date and time, there is usually a dress code that you should follow.

Gather information about the venue if nothing is mentioned about the guests' dress. Will the bride and groom be celebrating in a fairytale castle or in a rustic barn? As a wedding guest, you should adapt your choice of dress to the venue, then you can hardly go wrong. In any case, follow the wishes of the wedding couple - anything else is a no-go.

1. The bride is the centre of attention

Stay away from anything too low-cut, too sheer or too short. Also be careful not to steal the bride's thunder with your make-up or jewellery. Of course, you can add a little extra on this special day, but please stay within the limits.

2. White, black or colourful?

Rule number 1: Only the bride wears white. Of course, a white shirt under a jacket is fine for men.

You should generally avoid black. After all, it's not a funeral. Rather, use a beautiful dress in royal blue or a bright sunny yellow.

3. bare shoulders - a no go?

Even if the wedding is on a hot summer day, you should cover your shoulders in church. Of course, you can wear a nice off-the-shoulder dress to a wedding reception, just take a shawl with you that you can wrap around your shoulders. It's also great if it gets a bit chilly late in the day.

4. wear jeans to a wedding?

Faded jeans are indeed a bit inappropriate at a formal wedding. However, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a trouser suit or jumpsuit - on the contrary: with this in-piece you're definitely not overdressed and you also look very fashionable.
